Hi there, what you want to do is reinstall your Operating System. Make sure you have all of your software CD's to reinstall... such as your OS (are you running Windows XP?), your driver CD's, programs that you had installed?

Don't forget to back up to disk your "favorites" in Internet Explorer, emails that you want to save... basically all the data that you might not want to loose (not applications, you can reinstall those from disk).

I have attached a link to a "walk through" for reinstalling XP (as I am guessing that's what you are running). If you aren't running XP, you can just do a google search to find out how to install whatever OS it is that you are running.

Oh, and if you have a Dimension or Inspiron system, after you have saved your data to disks... check to see if you have PC restore on your systyem. PC restore is a ghosted image of your entire system when it was loaded at the factory. It is loaded on a partition of the hard drive. By running PC restore, you can totally reinstall all the software that originally came with your system in about 8 mintues. You will know when you try this if it is there or not.

Turn off your system. Turn it back on, when you see the Dell Splash screen, press the Ctrl + F11 keys. Release both keys at once. You should see a window called "Dell PC Restore by Symantec". Click on Restore (or tab to highlight it if your mouse doesn't work in here, and press enter). A warning will come up to remind you that you will loose all your data, click "Confirm". The progress bar will show you how it's doing. When it's done, your system will reboot and you should be good to go.

Good Luck!

My computer came with a CD for that. See if yours did. It is basically a CD that you insert so that it basically starts as though you have just bought the PC. Otherwise, if you are PC smart, reformat the hard drive and reinstall your operating system.

Only option is to format and reinstall the operating system...

OR,

If you have a computer that is HP or Dell brand, you should be able to do this easier... Ask your PC manufacturer for more detail.

Format your HD and reload the OS.
When the BIOS starts to load, repeatedly tap the F8.

if it's under warranty, throw it in a microwave and put it in for a few 5 second bursts, it will cook it and you'll then be able to RMA it out and get a BRAND NEW unit.

:P, glad to help
