some people tell me, somewhere within the next 5 years there's going to be a big earthquake that will cause disaster in california and if not, the san andreas fault line (thats been overdue for some time) will split and sink hawaii, thus. creating waves of tsumani heading towards the state of california, and drowing many of us. does anyone know these for a fact or heard about it?

First, the San Andreas Fault has nothing to do with Hawaii and will never sink it. It is possible that chunks of Hawaii can catastrophically fall into the ocean creating large tsunamis, but that doesn't happen very often. In any 5 year period, there's always a pretty decent chance of a damaging earthquake SOMEWHERE in California, it's a big state. No one can predict when there will be a great earthquake on the San Andreas fault and there's no real valid reason to say it's "been overdue from some time." At present seismologists can only estimate an average recurrence interval, but that doesn't mean that sometimes it's much longer between earthquakes and sometimes much shorter.

I think more people have died on the freeways that run next to the faults than the amount of people directly killed by an earthquake. So buckle up, keep a few days food supply and some scuba gear with you at all times.

This same prophesy of disaster
has been happening for at
least since the 1905 S.F.
earthquake.
Just continue on with your
life. It may or may not happen.
Why take your valuable time
away from more pressing
issues to worry about this?
There is absolutely noone who knows for sure when and
where and how strong the
next earthquake will be.
