Rhesus positive

Rhesus types
Most people are 'rhesus positive' as they have rhesus antigens on their red blood cells. But, about 3 in 20 people do not have rhesus antibodies and are said to be 'rhesus negative'.

Blood groups and pregnancy

A blood group test is always done on pregnant women. If the mother is rhesus negative, and the unborn baby is rhesus positive (inherited from a rhesus positive father), then the mother's immune system may produce anti-rhesus antibodies. These may attack and destroy the babies blood cells. This is rarely a problem in a first pregnancy. However, without treatment, this can become a serious problem in subsequent pregnancies as the mothers immune system will be 'sensitised' after the first pregnancy.

In other words you have nothing to worry about since you are rhesus positive

I got so confused when I read this question because I couldn't remember if I was RH+ or RH-... I'm RH- and so when I was pregnant with all my children I had to have a shot of RhoGAM at like, 24 or 28 weeks. Then, after my children were born their blood was tested and if their blood type was opposite of mine I had to get another shot. My first and second child had the same blood type as mine (A-) so I didn't have to have another shot. But my third child was A+ so I had to have another shot. This shot was so that if any of my baby's blood had gotten into my system (from the placenta, my shrinking uterus, however it would happen) my body wouldn't build antibodies against it.
Hmmm... basically as I understand it if you are RH negative than you need to have the RhoGAM shot so that if your baby's blood mixes with yours your body doesn't build antibodies against it, because for some reason my blood would think that a different blood type is a foreign body and attack it... and then if I got pregnant again my own body would attack the fetus because it would think that its a bad thing. (I'm sorry if this didn't make any sense, I would check out the first answerer's web site, lol, I'm sorry.)

It pretty much means that your blood type is positive. It's good to be positive because if your a negative and your baby was a positive then your body would try to fight the baby out.Since your a positive that won't matter. The baby will most likely be whatever the daddy is whether he is positive or negative. Also if the baby is a negative then you have nothing to worry about your body won't fight it even though your a positive.

just means that you dont have to worry that your body will not reject you baby because your blood types are the same thats a good thing, but if you were RH- then thay would ahave to give a shot so that your body will not fight off the baby because your blood types are not the same, congradulations to you and on your pregnancy
