Well I think it's the tube down your airway which causes the problem - it can temporarily hurt the vocal cords, so it's hard to talk. It goes away by itself.

if the breathing tube was down your throat it can make it very hard to talk. Just rest your voice for a few days and you should be fine.

You may wake up with a dry/sore throat but it shouldn't affect your ability to speak. However, pain medication can give you a little foggy brain too.
