my thesis = The Korean War was a proxy war where both North and South Korea were controlled ideologically by expanding Communist and Democratic countries who finally settled on a stalement

Well, actually, the only "expansion" was from the North, which attacked the South. No one disputes that. And, yes, it did result in a proxy war - another Cold War mess that hasn't been cleaned up yet.

They never settled. They are still officially at war. It was a part of the Cold War which no longer exists.
