I was TTC for 4 years and went on clomid 50mg days 3-7. I took it with no luck for months. I only had really bad mood swings and bad cramping during AF. Then 3 days ago ( my last month on clomid) I found out I am pregnant.

I hope it works for you as well, just quicker with less side effects.

it depends on why you are taking it? ovulatory dysfunction, unexplained infertility, luteal phase defect...

in women with ovulatory dysfunctions, like pcos, it helps 70-80% ovulate although only about 40% get pregnant.

if you have an ovulatory dysfunction and it causes you to ovulate then your chances of getting pregnanct become the same as a couple with normal fertility. if you ar eovulating on clomid and still not getting pregnant then you are in the same boat as couples with unexplained infertility. there is probably something else going on.

if you have unexplained infertility and are ovulating on your own the clomid may not be as effective b/c the problem is not ovulatory.

if you have a luteal phase defect then clomid can be very helpful. it helps to lengthen the luteal phase by strengthening ovulation.

clomid is a good first line of treatment for women with who do not ovulate, or ovulate infrequently or women with luteal phase defects. all else being normal these women have high levels of success.
