Many people consider it such -- because they believe human life begins at conception -- and they reject that the mother has any say in whether that life can grow inside her or not -- basically, they rreject the "self defense" argument.

Many people disagreee -- they don't consider abortion to be murder -- either because they don't consider it a human life until it an survive independently -- or because they recognize an exception that even if it is a human life, the host-mother has a right to say "no".

because it's not just a "gob of tissue" as some people might say, it's human life that is already intricately developed. the baby did nothing to deserve to die, the mother just decided that she had the right to kill her child. Some people may say that it's not human life until it can survive on it's own, but if we make that assumption, you could say that murdering an infant, small child, or a physically or metally handicapped adult who couldn't survive on his own wasn't murder either. If you say it is "crime prevention", why not just go and kill all of the people who have single parents, are from low income families, or are generally considered "underprivileged"? maybe that would bring down crime. or wait, that IS a crime........ so should be killing innocent unborn children.

Wow. I"m going to correct the loser at the top.

Abortion is the INTENTIONAL and malicious killing of another PERSON.

abortion was NEVER considered murder, even in the pre-Roe days, as
1. The intent of an abortion is not to kill the embryo but to end the pregnancy, and
2. The "personhood" of an embryo is not even genrally agreed upon.

Anyone who cries "murder" (whilst they are no doubt holding up signs that say "Jesus loves you" and "save the innocent babies") is someone who has no rational argument for opposing abortion rights.

The state has the right to define the law in any way they see fit as long as the law is constitutional.
Most states chose to classify an abortion with no consent of the mother as murder. Since there is no argument as to constitutionality -- the law stands.

Murder is the unprovoked killing of an innocent human. By definition, abortion is murder.

Crime prevention? Dude, that's sick. Seek professional psychiatric help.

When a baby is conceived, it's a human being. If you abort that baby, you kill it. Any more questions?
