Cypress...because they're usually located next to water, and I love water: Rivers, Lakes...also, they grow very tall and have the most beautiful neon green color leaves, and a root system that's very unusual...forms all types of shapes.

My favorite Kayak trip is down a river where roughly 12 of these trees grew up in the middle of the river & their roots make the island...very impressive to stop, get out and walk on their roots as if real land. Crazy.

The mighty oak. An oak's root system is deep and wide-spread as its branches and limbs and leaves. They make wonderful climbing trees. They also are great for kids to build tree houses in. Imagine Forrest Gump unable to teach Jenny how to dangle because there was no oak!

Palm tree, but not the ones that everyone else likes, the ones that grow naturally in tropical places, all swooping lines growing funny directions. I call them Dr. Suess trees. (No straight lines.)

i volunteered with the redwood forest national park so the redwoods of course! they have a unique feeling bark which is kind of spongy and easy to break up. they are the most beautiful and huge trees in the world (if we don't cut them all down)..!

I really like aspens with their tall, white trunks and beautiful yellow leaves in the autumn. It's too bad they grow in high, cold places. I live in a place where it's hot and barely a foot above sea level.
