I have a PA (sound system) used mainly for vocals in my basement for band practice. It consists of (2) EV 15" two-way speaker cabinets, and a QSC900 amp that is rated at 450watts per side, at 4ohms (Banana out).

I'm not very familiar with ohm ratings and setups, but the pa sounds like crap. I think its because of the ohms. Can someone suggest if I should consider a different amp/speakers setup?

Thanks

What is the ohmic value of the speakers? In order to achieve maximum transfer of energy the speakers and amp need to have the same ohmic value. Then are the speakers connected properly? Plus on the amp to plus on the speakers. Get one speaker reversed and the phasing will be out of whack and sound flakey. Also with an amp rated that high you need some large cables, around 10 gauge. Under sized wires will drop a considerable amount of power.
