we like names with good meanings, but also not quite so common. the front runner right now is Ezekiel with the last name Wood. any thoughts and suggestions would be apprieciated.

I love Alexander.
Alexander Wood sounds great to me.
But that's kind-of common.

Ezekiel James Wood is awesome! I love it. I flows wonderfully. I like that Ezekiel is unique but it's not weird or made-up or spelled wrong! Great Choice and Good Luck!

ooh i think that is a really good one! Definately uncommon--you'd probably want a nickname for it for when he is little. Some others that are similar in that they have great meanings but aren't incredibly common are: Gideon, Josiah, Caleb, Hezekiah, and Malachi. But I think Ezekiel is great! Congratulations and i hope everything works out well for you!

Ezekiel is a big name to live with. I assume he will probably get 'zeke' as a pet name.
what about these also
Zander - greek for 'defending men'
Xavier /Zavier - 'the new house'
Zachary - hebrew for' the lord remembers'
Isaac - hebrew for 'he will laugh' (and its my sons name!)
Isaiah - hebrew for 'god is my salvation'

Think about how mean kids are before you name your son! He will come home and tell you how much he hates his name. My sons names are Gage Simon and Colin Jay.....Gage has kids that make fun of his name. =(
