I'm not one to pull the race card for many things but how else would you describe the comment .."well you know her kind".. two weeks ago she went in my hiring file to determine if I had a degree (which I do) and discovered that there was a charge that was dropped in 2001. She shared that info about me to other employees. Is that against the law? Mind you, I worked with autistic children. It was a Domestic Violence charge but I was the one violated. It was dropped once this was established, however it's still on my record (as dropped). I could not work there without proof of this. I was told by my immediate supervisor to be careful of her because she said that she didnt like me "for some reason". all in all I was still respectful but I'm not phoney! In the end we had some intense fellowship, to say the least, that resulting in my getting fired. Getting fired I can handle, her comment of ..look at your ghetto nails..this is long overdue" caked it for me. Is there anything I can do?

Well maybe, but glossing over the "intense fellowship" part makes me wonder if you didn't hand her a good excuse for firing with you with your beautifully manicured nails.
If she has a good excuse, you will have a tough time with a wrongful termination lawsuit claiming racial discrimination.
But it's probably worth a conversation with a lawyer in your area.

I'm going to say there is likely little to be done unless others will testify in your behalf. But you would probably be making a good investment if you bought a micro recorder. You should activate it anytime around the boss and see if you get the needed evidence. Unfortunately criminal records follow. Even an arrest though groundless can be against you. Some people are locked in that if arrested you MUST be guilty, at least of something. I recommend you go to cort and get the information sealed. As to racial, that is reprehensible. I'm white and have both hired and supervised. I always tried to be fair with race, nationality and sex. Exception when I worked with Brits. They were given twice the vacation time and business class tickets while the rest of us flew coach. Their country's working standart.

Making comments such as "ghetto nails" to a black person amounts to discrimination all by itself. Additionally, it will lend strong support to proving that your firing was racially motivated. It will all boil down to what you can prove. You should see a lawyer right away because the longer you wait, the harder the lawyer's job will be.
If you really do have ghetto nails (or something similarly stupid like a teef grill with spinnaz on it) then you deserve whatever happens to you.

I only wish people could only see one color in this world...
As far as your Issue,,,,could try talking to HR,,or go above her. If this is making you uncomfortable and tense,,it's really not worth it...
Try filling Harasment on her,,,but gonna need lots of witnesses that will step forward and some documentation...
Unfortunatley in this world you are the Employee and she is the Employer, your rights at the workplace are small..Even though there are laws out there about these kinds of things,,,,,,,,its hard to prove them.

Go to her boss and explain that you are being harassed, ask the person to document your conversation and let the them know that you are giving the company the opportunity to rectify the situation before going to the next step.

If you think your firing was because of race then you can contact the EEOC and file a complaint with them.
