Not many good answers here..

BMW is the last fully independent car company left.

They are built in Germany or Spartanburg, South Carolina which is where they make some Z4's, the X3, and some of the X5's.

General Motors did make some automatic transmissions for them in the 90's but all the newer stuff is made my ZF. All the older stuff is ZF or Getrag.

no, bmw is not owned by ford. the closest connection bmw has to ford is through the land rover range rover. both bmw and ford had a hand in the production of that vehicle, but that's about all the two car companies have in common.

No, they are not. BMW AG is a company all to its own.


Ford used to own PAG which was Volvo, Jaguar and Aston Martin.

ford motor company owns AND still owns, ford, mercury, Mazda Volvo, jaguar, and land rover. BMW is its own company and the parent company to Rolls Royce and Mini.

No who the heck told u that?? I work with Volvos and I know that for sometime that the Volvos Where with Ford but they let them go.....so i know that BMW's are NOT MADE BY FORD.... THANKS...........................

Eww no. I have lots of BMWs and BMW is a company all on its own. Its called BMW AG

NO! They are made either in Germany or in Virginia USA.

They do, however, have Chevrolet transmissions.
