Its the water heater. Try this, look at the bottom of you heater, there should be a valve where you can connect a water hose. Attach a water hose and turn on the valve. ( you may need a flat head screw driver, do not turn off the water to the heater or power) Run the water for about ten minutes or until it runs clear. If your water heater is in the attic, you can discharge into the nearest toilet. After ten minutes or the water runs clear turn on a valve inside the home and run both the hose and valve for another five minutes. This should purge most of the water in your water heater. If you still have this problem then you need to change the water heater. And you may need to consider a water softener or other filtration system. Hope this helps, good luck!!!

RE:
Yellow water coming out of faucet?
Yellow water has recently begun coming out of the sink and the shower -- only if I turn on the hot water faucet. The house is only 2 years old. What could this be and is it safe?

In repairing their leak they most likely broke rust loose in the old lines, this happens alot. Most likely this rust got into the water heater, where it will take a little while to get it all out. I would let them know that you are still having a problem. They may be able to drain the water out of the bottom of the water heater and clear it up faster.

It could be your hot water tank is on the way out or if you get hot water from your boiler ( tankless) it could be that. It is most likely not from your water source due to it being only from the hot water. This means a new hot water tank or a repair to the boiler. Not a dangerous thing
