Fascinating variety of answers!
I grew up in CA., I'd NEVER go back!
I "reside" in North Dakota! Yes, it's boring as hell, & cold too!
I'm an over-the-road Trucker. That means I've seen MOST of this country. I'm sorry to tell you there's no such thing as a "perfect" place for ME. For anyone else, it all depends on what you like,or dis-like.
"Too hot, too cold, too 'white', too 'ethnic', too 'city', too 'country', too 'liberal', too 'conservative'. Get the picture?

The south like Alabama, Tennessee, etc..It's too hot and too slow ! Never Utah because it is the most boring state I've ever traveled to !
I'm a city girl all the way :)

The desert. Arizona and New Mexico. I just don't like heat. I would die if I went outside into 112 degree weather!

Out west, it's got dry heat, or up really far north, where it get's really cold. I don't think I could get used to that. I live in Florida, so when it's hot, it's hot and humid, and it's always hot.

Deep south because of bigotry. Las Vegas - artificial and too hot. Florida too contrived. - Love the Midwest where people care about each other!!!

I will skip Florida for weather, California for political attitude and any city over one million in population for being a hotbed of conformity. California and large cities are afraid of individuals who are willing to think and act for themselves and to accept responsibility for their own actions. We set dangerous precedents.

the northwest, the dakotas, washington, idaho, wyoming etc...nothing but wide open spaces and Im a city girl.(with the exception of Seattle).
