a runner runs documents and may do some legal stuff, but minimal - probably more secretarial. You don't need any experience or knowledge to be a runner - just a driver's license.

A paralegal has some specific training and is able to conduct research through Westlaw, Lexis, etc... Paralegals do a significant amount of actual legal work.

For the record, if you're a law student, you don't want to be a runner - being a runner is a job for someone with no experience or knowledge. Also, you do not want to be a paralegal as - there is a special program of study to be a paralegal. You want to clerk at a law firm.

First, you can't really trust what you read online -- profiles or otherwise. Keep in mind that at one point she may have been a runner, and has since become a paralegal.

The difference is basically huge. A runner usually does odd jobs at a law firm. This is usually a good job for law students. But some law students can and do work as a paralegal at some point in their career (keep in mind some paralegals eventually become lawyers.)

If you really want to know, you will have to find out more about this person.

The two are totally differnent. Maybe she's a runner wanting to be a paralegal. An experienced paralegal can do just about anything an attorney can except give legal advice and appear in court. Paraleglas earn on an average $35-100K per year depending on your geographical location.

Runners are the same as messengers. They deliver documents to other law firms, courts and busi.nesses. Typical job for a college student. Runners make $10 - $15 per hour

"Paralegal" may or may not indicate specific training, but as a job, it's someone that prepares documents at the direction of a lawyer.

A runner is a long, narrow carpet, used in hallways or on stairs.
