Hi. Your OS moves files from hard disk storage and loads them into RAM to run them. RAM is volatile (the info is lost when power goes off) whereas the hard disk will retain files without power. You need both.

Ram is a temporarily memory, that will lose all the data if the computer restarted for example.
When you run a program it needs to be loaded on the RAM, e.g. Word Program,
All your job on this program is temporary until you do Save your work , were you use the Hard disk.
The main things that made RAM necessary is that the computer speed is measured in G.Hertz where the Hard disk speed is measured in Millisecond so a huge delay will be caused if the Processor and hard disk talks to each other,
So the RAM does speed this since it’s much faster than the hard disk, it works as a link between hard disk and processor
