Have you tried:
-80's rock in general, that's where the guitar became sweet and suculent
-Sonata arctic (fast power-metal, some sweet guitar licks, check em out on youtube)
-Iron Maiden (if you're into guitar, i'm hoping you've already checked them out)
-Slayer (same deal as what i said for Iron Maiden)
