Thanks for the guarantee. I didn't know the Steinbrenner family participated on Yahoo! Answers.
My guess - and it's strictly a guess - is that from your list the Yankees will have Rivera, Posada and Pettitte on the team next year.

You Yankee fans had better hope that H.Steinbrenner isn't as stupid as most of you. Every single player you just mentioned is 32 or older. You fans, being the idiots that you are, want the yankees to pony up around 100 mil for these 5 players. You are a joke. Let's take a look at these players a little closer, shall we
Tori Hunter: Average offensive player, great defensive player who's had injury problems lately and is 32 yrs old.
Wants 5 yrs @ 15 mil per.
Mike Lowell: Good 3b who just had a career year and will probably never approach those #'s again. Believe he is 35 yrs old. 3 yrs @ 15 mil
Jorge Posada: Great catcher, have been envious for years, but once again, had a great year that he will never approach again. Mets want him, and if yanks are smart, will let Mets have him as he is 36 soon to be 37 yrs old. Probably take 4 yrs @ 15 mil a yr.
M. Rivera: Was a great closer, who is just average now. I beleive it would behoove the yanks to keep him, but not longer than 2 yrs as he is 36 or 37. 2 yrs would be enough time to find another closer to groom. 2 yrs @ 8 mil per yr.
Andy Pettitte: Average #3 or #4 starter w/ a bad arm. Why do you think he's been thinking of retiring. If I were the yanks, i'd let him go as there really is no room for him on the roster when you have Chamberlain, Hughes, Kennedy, Mussina, Wang, on the team. 16 mil for one year
If the Yanks keep them all, it will cost them 69 Million for next year and total $212 million over the next 5 yrs.
Now that would be downright stupid wouldn't it.

That's a pretty bold statement my friend but this is how it breaks down. Rivera is not what he use to be. He IS hitable and will faulter more often has his career whines down. He will follow Torre.
The Mets are really going to try for Posada and after the career year he had it will cost the Yankees a lot of money to keep him. The fact that he's in his late 30's is not a long term situation. He becomes a Met.
Forget Torii Hunter. The Yankees just don't need another mid 30's ball player. He's good but not great.
If I was Boston I would have to say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"! Lowell stays in Boston. Why would he want to leave the best team in baseball?
Pettitte is the only player that might stay. He has already said publicly that he has seriously considered retiring more than once during this past year. If he plays it will be for only one more season.
The Yankees need new blood in their pitching staff and that's where they will focus.

okay rivera, posada, and pettite all have good relationships with giradi which will have a big part in their decisions. When rivera was on the yanks when they won the world series in the late 90's giradi was his catcher so they had to be friends then and still r now. Posada is an easy one because who did he succeed when he came up, GIRADI!!! Giradi was his mentor meaning they were very close and still r. Pettite is the same as rivera being giradi his catcher in the late 90's. Now as for lowell he is staying with the sox but the yanks will try to get miguel cabrera for someone like damon hughes melky or even shelley duncan. Torii Hunter i think will come to the yanks. Melky goes to left field matsui DH Hunter would go to center obviously. Either this year in a trade or next year in a free agent signing the Yanks will probably get Johan Santana. their pitching rotation then would be as follows : 1. Santana 2. Wang 3. Pettite 4. Joba 5. Hughes( if not traded by then) if he is traded then it wood be kennedy

You must have read some of my earlier predictions.
Everybody on your list will be a Yankee next season except for Mike Lowell who will re-sign with the Sox. Wilson Betemit will be given the chance to win the 3rd base job in spring training. Melky Cabrera will be packaged with Phil Hughes and a mid level prospect or two and traded to the Twins for Johan Santana. Why would the Twins trade Santana? Santana is nearing the age when the Twinkies will have to pay him what he's worth and the Twins never pay big money. Rather than loose JS to free agency, the Twins will take a chance that Phil Hughes will be all that and a bag of chips and of course Melky is a low cost replacement for Hunter in the twins outfield. Hunter goes into center in the Bronx for the next year or two with Johnny Damon filling in as needed in all three slots. Case closed!
You heard it here first from the Baseball Goddess!

U seem to be pretty sure about that, Let's turn it around the other way. Yankees losing Rivera, Posada, Pettite, Arod and not getting Lowell or Hunter. Alota holes to fill, for an average team next year.

Ok and that changes very little, because the Yankees still dont have enough starting pitching to contend. Also if the Red Sox get A-Rod, well ya lets just say that would be bad for the Yankees and the rest of the league. Oh ya and the last baseball grantee I heard was Zambrano saying the Cubs would win the World Series, that worked out well.

Wow, you have lots to be excited about. Here's who you have on your list:
1) A 38-year-old closer who just had easily his worst year.
2) A 36-year-old catcher who had a career year and will have about a 5% chance of duplicating that success.
3) An overvalued centerfielder with a .324 career OBP.
4) Nothing bad to say about Lowell.
5) A 36-year-old starter who had a decent year but is no better than a third starter.
If that's the big offseason plan for the Yankees, then they're in trouble next year.
