Many hospitals and clinic offer CNA training and certification on the job. As you learn and become certified, you are then bumped to a regular employee status.

Some places will let you work as a "personal care provider", usually at assisted living homes, where one does not actually need certification to work. PCP's get paid less than their certified counterparts, but will give you some experience while obtaining your certification. Your other option is to take classes from a long term care facility, some will offer training in exchange for an agreement to work for them for a specified amount of time.. You will be allowed to work on the floor until your certification comes in (most of the time). I'd call around and see if anyone in your area offers such classes.

Try applying with assisted living facility as a caregiver or with a home companionship agency as a caregiver. It is like working as a CNA in that it is same degree of resident one on one contact and you help them with activities of daily living. The difference is these residents are somewhat more independent than those in a skilled nursing facility. Depending on the requirements for this position in your area, you can probably work as a caregiver until you get your certification, and even after being certified if you so desire. Good luck with your job search.

Some places will hire you if your not certified yet, but you atleast need to be registered, meaning you have to have passed the CNA course, and have done clinicals.
