In 1940, before Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, in 1941, The US had many allies in the east. Japan had been one at one time.

At this time, Germany's economy dropped and inflation rose. German was forced to pay the cost of the previous world war. On top, they took the brunt of the blame for that war.

We, the US begin helping China with shipments. While Japan attacked Europe, Japan attacked Asia. We were helping out china and a few other Asian countries.

In retaliation Japan attacked US!

One reason was Pearl Harbor. America originally didn't want to enter the war but the Japanese attacked them for no reason so they felt they had no choice. I don't know any other reasons. As for websites, just go on the History Channel's site. That should help.
