put everything you need on the registry. even nursing pads, nipple creams, nursing bra's, etc. there isnt any reason to be embarrased. put what you need in relation to having a baby. incuding pads, panty liners. you dont want to leave the house with a week old baby because you ran out of pads.

I would recommend that you think ahead to after the newborn phase. Remember all the things that a toddler needs too, like sippy cups and little guy plates/silverware. A childs swingset is also a great thing that could be put on a registry. Another thing that people forget, is a carseat for when the baby outgrows the infant seat, but it still too small for a booster.
In response to a previous answer, I recently read about the Bumbo seat being recalled. I don't think that Babys R Us even carrys it now.

Just make sure you try out the stroller if you're putting that on the registry. I mean folding it up, setting it up...imagine doing that with a baby or better yet take a sack of sugar with you. Congrats by the way!

Also think of some pricier items maybe, since you might think of a lot of cheaper items (like receiving blanket etc.).
What about a Baby Bjoern?
If nobody buys it off the registry you can still buy it yourself.

I just did my registry about two weeks ago. My baby shower is in a week. I put wipes warmer, foot and wrist rattles. And things such as balmex and other first aid items. baby carrier, shopping cart cover. Toys for car seat or bouncer to keep them entertained. Car window screen for the sun.

Things to child proof the house as they got older. Clothes a size bigger than new born. Lots more disposable diapers. Baby bibs larger than the cutsie newborn ones.

The Bumbo seat was one of the best things that I had for my daughter. We got a lot of use out of it.
