should i spend half on what i need and the rest,save?

if in debt -- get out and than stay out if you have any thing left put it aside for a rainy day -- do not just blow it -- things like this do not happen everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have any debt apply as much as you can to paying it down, saving all the interest. This is a great time to get out of debt.

Otherwise, maybe buy a few things, and put the rest away. Buy a certificate of deposit or such.

If it was me:

If I was behind on bills, I would get caught up on them, maybe pay some off entirely. I might spend some on something fun, or something fun for the bambino. The rest would be saved for a rainy day.

Not enough information. Get rid of debt or go half against debt and use half to start a Roth IRA.
