Does anyone have a lathe that they are not using, one that works on like a 7 ft. stick? I need one that long just to be on the safe side. If u do, email me.

You can make one without a lathe.

Ha! ha! GOOD one..."does anyone have a lathe they aren't using....a 7ft stick"? Do you know how much one of those COSTS? Hee hee! You're funny.
But, you COULD try and Mcgyver one - here's how. You'll need a solid attachment point with a bearing and holder for one end of the stick, then using a powerful drill, you can just chuck the holder in the oversize drill ( MUCH cheaper than a lathe, too! )mount the other end of your piece of wood, and then while someone powers the drill, you can use a cutting tool to mill down your long stick....heck, you could do a 10, 12, 16 foot stick if you reallly wanted to! I would guess you would use round dowel stock to do it, attempting to cut a square piece with someone just holding a drill would probably shake them enough to let it go. A long round curtain rod would work fine, though. And it would be much cheaper than a lathe. Or, you could just pay a shop to make one for you.
So, will a 7 foot walking stick make you safer? Just curious...

If you are not able to get responses from here use eBay or even better some other special web site that deals in tools like you are looking for. hopefully you will find exactly what you are looking for.unfortunately freight alone would be so high you might want to make sure who every sales you one uses a commercial freight company like NPT. The freight charges would be sooo much cheaper with something of that size and weight. good luck! it does sound like a cool project.
