My prof gaves us a hand out and did not explain it... so I'm confused. Here's what it says: Take a walk through your neighborhood and take photographs for a photo essay that will accurately describe your neighborhood for outsiders. Then visit a place (park) and take careful field notes of who you find in that place and detailed descriptions of what peopl are doing. Write a 2-3 page ethnography about your neighborhood, giving a thick description from your field notes and photographs.

By Thick Description I believe he's reffering to the CLIFFORD Geertz essay?

HERE IT IS IF U CARE TO SEE IT:http://www.iwp.uni-linz.ac.at/lxe/sektktf/gg/GeertzTexts/Thick_Description.htm

What exactly is written in an ethnography & how should I write THIS? HELP!! THNX

In ethnographys you are suppose to write about what youobserve, such as the people and their behaviors and customs. This is the same as Jane Goodalls books about her observations of chimps. The professor wants you to describe your neighborhood like you have never been there and it is all new to you.

As for writing it I would split it into sections like they do in most ethnographies. Paragraph1. The people P2 The customs, Pg3 Religion ect
