Consider this situation... You own an NFL football team with great defense, but not so good offense. Your receivers and running backs are very average and your offensive line is not dependable all the time (i.e. 2-3 sacks per game).
Now you get a chance of a life time to steal either Manning or Brady or Favre or Romo away from Colts, Patriots, Packers, or Cowboys. Which QB will you steal and why do you believe this QB will at least bring your offensive team to a respectable place in NFL? You can consider a lot of things of course, not just this year's stat. Some examples will be intelligence, age, injuries, toughness, skills of making play out of the pocket, etc. Or, if you choose another QB, you certainly can do so as well. But regarless of whom you pick, please give your explanation. Any answer without an explanation will not be considered for best answer at all.

Some great answers so far... but no one likes any other QBs than these 4?

This would definitely be between Manning and Brady. Both are young enough and talented enough to win 5 more Super Bowls and the only thing that can stop either one of them are each other.
You basically described the 2006 Chicago Bears in your example, and I think the Bears would have easily won Super Bowl 41 with either Manning or Brady.
Personally, Manning first, Brady second.
Farve is too old to build a franchise around now. Romo would be my 3rd choice because of his up-side.

It'd have to be Favre, as he's done the most with non-HOF, at least stat-wise. Brady worked in a great system, and had a really good defense. When Favre had a great defense, they went to back-to-back Superbowls as well. The defense after that didn't really stick around, while the Patriots brought in key contributors (ie. Seau), so it was more of a team-effort for the Patriots.
If I had my life on the line, and I had a QB to make a game-winning 80+ yard drive with less than 2 minutes, it'd be Brett Favre every single time - no exception.
So, if I had an average offense team... it'd have to be #4 at QB

Have to go with Brady on this. He's got great technical skills, Knows how to read defenses and coverages pretty good, and is still young enough to take a pounding if the offensive line isn't doing it's job. He took over the Pats as an unaccomplished QB and brought them to the level they are now. The Pats pick up Moss who was tagged a a troublemaker and he didn't try every play. Now Moss is having acareer year and is a lock for the Pro Bowl and it's because Brady is the team leader who convinced Moss to play at the level he's capable of. And Brady has only two interceptions this year. It's not because his receivers are making incredible catches, it's because every throw is exactly what the route called for. A great QB can make an average team better than they really are. The Patriots are the proof right now.

Nobody has mentioned the fact that Favre has never missed a game in his career. That shows his toughness. However, I don't think Manning has either, correct me if I'm wrong. I think it was when the Packers were playing the Eagles, Favre almost got sacked three different times and was able to complete a shovel pass during each one. So even with a mediocre offensive line, Favre can still make plays. I have to go with Favre, even right now.
Manning is a very close second, that guy can call plays at the line and change it to a play that will work against the defense and is one of the smartest QB's to ever play the game.

Let me qualify this answer by saying that I have a huge man-crush on Manning. Brett Favre is the pick here. What you described is his team this year. This is what he is best at. When he gets pressure he can get outside the pocket and sling the ball all over the field while on the run. Both Manning and Brady have a more difficult time throwing while under pressure than does Favre. Romo simply is just not in the same class as these three. Did you notice last year that after Romo took over, even though they won games, their point totals went down an average of two points a game when compared to what they scored with Bledsoe at QB. I would take Favre.

Manning. He's the best QB in the league right now (barely) over Tom Brady.
If all the players were in their prime though, I'd have to have said Favre, cuz he's an incredible player and he's tough, never misses a game. Now he's to old though.

With a poor offensive line, it makes no sense to go with Manning or Brady, both are about as mobile as a dumb truck. That leaves Favre and Romo. I would go with Romo because he has another 10 plus years baring injury and Favre has another year, max...
So I go with Romo because of mobility and youth.

At first thought would be Favre, since he's been that very situation a few times and carried the team to the playoffs. But at his age you'd probably be better off with a guy for the future. I'd say Manning. He's the clear cut best field general and the total package. You can build a team around them like the Colts did. I'd take him every time.
I like the guy throwing stats that proves it's Brady. Did he read the whole question? Did he say he has the exact same team? Duh!

umm favre is on that type of team. good defense but average at best offense! but i agree i think that numbers all of those QBs would drop dramaticly if you put them on a team with less talent around them. so i would pick Favre because he has made a living off playing with average talent ( with the exception of Sharp) he has never had great WRs. look what happend to freeman when he left green bay.

I would go with Peyton Manning because he is the best all around QB. Brett Farve has been hit and miss through his career. Brady and Romo have been good because they have been surrounded by great players.
