I am interested in taking upvisual art as a hobby-I do everything else- but what do y'all think?
Do you think anyone can draw.
I used to think that only some people could play musical instruments but now I've realised that this isn't really true.
I managed to get quite good at a coupla instruments because I wanted to.
Is it the same with drawing?
Do you thik anyone can do anything if they want it enough and they believe in themselves?

Yer maw.

You can learn to draw..but its rare to become REAL good at it. I was naturally gifted in drawing..but when you look at my old drawings..they still needed improvements. I got better with practice.

I've seen several people get exceptionally well from practice. Challenge yourself, and dont be afraid to messup. Loose the earaser and draw with a pen sometimes...there are many techniques to train your eye to see better, and develope better hand eye cordination.

I've noticed a great curve in learning on my friends in 3 years. They continue to get better. However, they do get stumped on certain complex angles...but i'm sure they will pass that hurdle with more experience.

Practice, practice, practice.

Anyone Can Draw

Most definitively, like most "talents" drawing is something NO ONE I repeat NO ONE is born with. It isn't in your genes it is something you get with a lot of practice or a lot more practice. It is true that you are bound to be less creative and drawing, painting, sketching, etc. if you are better at math, science, etc. It doesn't mean you can't draw it just means your mind is more prone to drawing "symbols" then the actual thing. Start out by concentrating on every single line and shape instead of the nose or the hair think of this curve hear that shading here. Remeber all those kids who seemed to be born with it 4th grade and could draw practically anything? Well thous are just the kids who got the head start on practicing. I am 14 I have one about 8 real art contests I started really practicing art in second grade and didn't get to well until around 6th just practice, practice, practice!
P.S just a tip try drawing some stuff upside down it will help you get into drawing the lines instead of "symbols" also, try to imagine everything in pencil for when you see it.

Yes, ANYONE can draw. The more you practice and doodle, the more you're training your hand to put down what your eye and mind tell it to.

In the course of 20 years of drawing I've seen my 'style' change distinctly five times now. You will find yourself doing things easier the more you play with this. For a good breakthrough, see if your library has the book Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain. It's got exercises in it that are fantastic. Read the book and do the exercises as you come to them, you'll be amazed at what 'talent' is in a beginner.

Absolutley, It just a matter of what the person is drawing and how they feel about THEIR drawing. Notice i emphasized 'their' because everyone is original and different. But we have these images implanted in our minds that only A certain type or style is acceptable and, as you say, good. It is also true that people tend to like and become more interested in drawings that are more realistic and resemble something, or something that they can relate to. But GOOD LUCK with it and all!!

Go for it.

Most persons can draw, at least a little.

Technically, there can be some exceptions unfortunately.

A few persons can have neurological challenges which impact their ability to draw such as hemiplegia, hemispatial neglect, and apraxia.

With some of those persons, they may be able to draw stick figures but they can have real difficulty with portraits, etc.

A few persons are color blind and that can affect the colors they use in drawing.

Good luck.
