You have to check out a singer from England named Anne Clark, she recites poetry/lyrics to soft, melancholic music, on one album maybe just a soft accoustic guitar, on another it is maybe more electronic. I love it, she has been around since the new wave 80's, but the music is so sad and makes me long for my youth... The Sitting Room is my favorite.

Also, I love many songs by The Cure, such as "Apart", "The Figurehead" & "Siamese Twins"
