Do you think there will ever be another Star Trek series? I mean, without more, what will keep future generations interested? There should always be another star trek series planned, even if they have to make 50 more series.

Give it a few years, until the fan base swells again to levels that will make the TV exectutives see potential profits (from advertising, marketing products, etc.)

@ ConcernedCitizen:

Considering they've cast a young Kirk for the upcoming film, I don't think the main Captain will be Pike.

Anyway, as for the question at hand, there should be another series - but only if they can get a decent storyline that does not involve going back to before any of the previous series. I didn't enjoy the concept when "Enterprise" did it, and I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy it in the new film. Move forward - perhaps maybe relaunch DS9 and finish the story (since, as far as "Trek" canon is concerned, Sisko is still floating around with the Prophets somewhere)?

I would love to see another Star Trek series. But unfortunately ENT really set the whole group back several years.

I would really like to see a series set slightly after the Dominion war, maybe a SCE ship. Filled primarily with an alien crew. Have them cleaning up the mess from the war.

I hope that there will be more Star Trek at some point. Maybe they should do a series based on one of the races, like Klingon, Romulam etc. For a change of pace. Looking forward to the movie in the mean time

Shadow Kat, I heard about the new Star Trek Movie too. It's a prequel to the original series with the actor who plays Sylar as a younger Spock, but I don't think Captain Kirk will be in it. The Captain will be Christopher Pike, Kirk's predecessor from the pilot. I haven't heard who's going to play him yet.

I think there will be, the question is whether it will be any good. Berman and Braga pretty much killed the franchise. Hopefully JJ Abrams will breathe some new life into it with the new movie, and we'll get some good fresh blood involved to do some quality work. The movie looks pretty good, in that the cast they've got so far looks very impressive. And Abrams is a good writer/producer, so I have high hopes. Just so long as they keep B&B away from it.

well they are casting a new movie right now I think
it has the guy who plays Sylar ( heroes ) Harold ( Harold and Kumar ) the British guy from Shaun of the Dead and some other people, crossing my fingers for Nathan Fillion as Cpt Kirk
