As a new recruit on my schools wrestling team, I am new to the sport. Can you please give some tips, such as basic takedowns, pinning combos, and defensive strategies?

I can tell you two things. DOUBLE LEG TAKE DOWNS. and SPRAWLING! if you truly learn how to perfect these two moves you will find that they are the most useful and most used in the sport. Trust me i speak from experience. When i started wrestling i did not know a thing! but i was able to go from nothing to state champ after only one season as a 135 pounder and what got me every win was my incredible shot and good reaction on the sprawl. My coach told me you have to do every mover perfectly 1000 times before it becomes an instinct and i took that to heart and thats how i got where i went. Good luck and work on that shot! :)

Keep it simple and I'm sure the coaches will stress that to you. Remember, it is hard for anyone to be on the offensive with one leg off the ground...if you can become proficient with the single-leg take down, then all will build upon that "simple" move. You will also learn to think ahead in your matches...anticipation will be your most successful weapon.

Hopefully i will get best answer. my advice would be to constantly go from direction to another and violently jerk my opponent around whenever I grapple with them. they are not used to someone jerking them around so sometimes you can do moves that they didn't expect like a DDT style headlock and rollover or simply throw them to the ground using their forward motion....

Hopefully that will help you.

Don't get caught in your opponents grabble. That's all I gotta say.
