Glad to see the Yankees are not on the list!! I think Schilling has a lot to offer any team. With a heart as big as his , and the determination he has shown the Sox , it would be a shame to loose such an asset. Give him another year and let him retire on a winning streak!! Give the man another ring..We all know the Sox will do it again next year!!

If Schilling wants to pitch someone will have him. He is still an above average pitcher. Coming off two really gutsy performances in the playoff/series. The Sox might bite for one season but it depends on their chances of landing a younger option. (They will need one more starter) Philly and Stl would be the other good choices. He could be effective ala Greg Maddux in an NL rotation. Dodgers is an intruiging choice but I'm not sure Curt's a Joe Torre kind of player. For that matter you could say the same for Larussa. I like him in Philly unless for some reason The Big Unit is done in AZ then Curt could fill his role.

Well, he wants the same $13 million salary for next year, and, frankly, I can't see the Red Sox matching that figure.

Of those teams, maybe the Mets and Phillies might consider doing so, but apart from that, I don't think he would have much luck without the willingness to compromise a bit.

Edit: I agree with Mick on this one...it's disappointing that any type of negativity would be brought forth right now. This week has been a time for celebration, to have fun, and to bask in the glow of being World Series winners...

There is a time and a place for considering one's future options, but for stuff such as handwriting goodbye notes and, essentially saying farewell without apparently giving any kind of forethought as to potential talks with management about next year, it just seems a bit of a downer to enact such a negative approach.

I doubt everyone else let it spoil their fun and all, but still, I thought it was a shame, just the same...

It would be great if Curt Schilling were back next year, but if the idea of staying become a kind of imposition, then all the front office can really do is say, thanks for everything you did for us, and good luck in the future...

I think he should go to Phillies & then retire. Wasn't there a segment on ESPN stating that this a simular situation that A-Rod is going through because Schilling knew deep down the Red Sox wouldn't offer him a certain amount of $$$ or contract & isn't this about thinking of himself & not his team. Enjoy the World Series title for awhile before saying where you wouldn't mind playing next year

And the Red Sox.The one team he wants to sign with above all others is Boston. He wants to retire next year in a BoSox uniform.

I know he was writing letters, but thats the thing with Schill, hes not the smartest crayon in the box.

If he goes to the Chicago Cubs, where are they going to put him, there can't be any way that they will put him in the bullpen, and the Chicago Cubs are set for startiong pitching, in less one of thier starters leaves, or they trade one of them, but there is the good question, where would they put him? Come on, they won't demote one of thier starters to the bullpen. But hat is quite a list, and it doesn't look like he wants to play for a team in the American League, that has both a American League team, and a National League team.

As if the Phillies or their fans would want the liar back! I like how he upstaged his own teams championship parade by making this untimely announcement. I guess he wasn't going to let those dam team mates of his get away with having a good time. Certainly he must have figured A-Rod was getting too much attention by bailing on the Yankees in the middle of the world series. Shame on A-Rod, right Curt?

Curt (I'll never leave Philadelphia) Schilling is a grand stander. A legend in his own mind. Who cares where he goes. His tank is almost empty and he knows it. He needs to bow out gracefully.

If the Mets could get him and one other ok pitcher the World Series is as easy as following a yellow-brick-road

Atlanta, it's where older pitchers go to die these days.

I love Schill, but maybe he should stop while he's on top. He's no Clemons. It takes a lot of work to stay in pitching shape at his age.

It would be great if he went to the Cubs, we really need an established pitcher to go with Zambrano and Lilly. The back of the rotation is so weak right now.
