My favorite book is the one I'm currently reading..."The Good Life" by Charles Colson.
If you were to ask me what my favorite book was last month, it would have been the book I was reading at that time..."A Long Obedience in the Same Direction" by Eugene H. Peterson.
There are so many great books out there. I absolutely love reading and I'd rather read than watch TV any day! What mind-bending ideas there are to cogitate upon!

The Bible. It has the word of life in it, and answers all the questions you need to spend eternity in heaven with God. I like it so well that I often use it to study a foreign language, because I know what it is supposed to say. It's much easier to learn to read a foreign language that way. And I also read it in different languages just to get some other perspectives if I want some additional insight. If I have huge questions, I go to Hebrew or Greek. I think it is such a valuable book that I put some verses from the Bible on my web site in 140 languages, and hope to add a lot more as time permits. The verses were chosen in part because they explain the gospel of salvation, and in part because they are favorite passages for other people. The link is below.
Other than that, I don't have a particular favorite. I used to read Oz books when I could get them. Some books I once read repeatedly included a certain version of Robin Hood (that was when I was a child; I don't like his philosophy that much anymore), and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. When I was a little older, I liked Zenna Henderson books. I was actually able to talk to her on the phone a few times. But I haven't had a book that I have read more than once or twice since then.
By the way, one of the reasons I was attracted to Zenna Henderson was because of her People stories. The People are devout and gentle folks, refugees from a planet that was destroyed in a catastrophe, who land on Earth. They have some neat abilities. Though their religion isn't Christianity, it has some Christian themes, such as the idea that our bodies are cast aside at death and it is a time of rejoicing because people go on to better things, and the People definitely have Christian values. It's a lot less harmful than the things people use for their fantasizing these days, such as Harry Potter.
I also like the writings of Khalil Gibran, so imagine my surprise when I learned that he was a Christian!
Perhaps a good question would be to ask folks what their favorite genre is.

My favorite book truly is the Bible. I have read it from cover to cover several times, and in it I not only find the inspiration and encouragement I need to see me through my daily life and the struggles which arise, but I also find adventure, instruction, wisdom, and love. I find stories of what not to do, how not to behave, warnings of war and accounts of battles, wjich are not my favorite stories. (I am just about to finish Jeremiah, and the continual warnings are upsetting to me, because people didn't listen). But, there is also poetry, and the beauty of the Psalms and the Song of Solomon are unsurpassed. There is mystery, some of which have a written conclusion, like Jonah, and others like the Revelations, which are yet to be revealed.
All of this in one book, and that book is also an instruction manual for our lives. What more could anyone ask of a book?

The Bible is my first choice and there are several books in the Bible that I love to read and study from. I love reading in Acts and how the church started but also love to read the book of James, I & II Peter and I John.
I love most of the series by Gilbert Morris who ties history in with his romance novels ~ and they are clean.
I also like Laurainne Snellings books and have read 2 or 3 of her series so far. She also ties history in and writes bout the Dakotas and those who settled that area.
Beverly Lewis also has some good books if you like to read about the Amish way of life and the strict beliefs they have. I have read most of hers but now have a couple more that I hope to read soon.
And you can't beat Gone With The Wind.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
This is my favorite book because it has an amazing message, that women can be independent and still attract a husband . The writing style is also very nice and unique.

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer.
The newest book to make it to my List of Favorites, though, is Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynn Jones. It's also an anime movie by Hayao Miyazaki, the same guy who directed Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service. If you've ever heard of either of those... not many people have.
