A lump of that size is likely caused by a boil - which is a large, deep pimple. They are common in the groin area for some reason. The usually last longer than a pimple, and either disappear or form a head that eventually pops.

Sounds like a hernia maybe. I thought onyl older people got them until my 20 year old boyfriend got one. His was in the groin area also. His was caused by heavy lifting. Go to this page- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hernia
