What I need is a pattern, and I don't know how to start. I have a lot of card boxes that I would like to cover with Christmas paper to put cookies and candy in.

I saw this Q earlier but didn't have a chance to respond.

Certainly not a difficult task at all. Consider when you wrap a gift. Don't you usually have extra paper to trim or fold in/over?

For the boxes; lay out a sheet of paper. Tip the box on its side; or use a ruler, and cut the measurement adding an inch to tuck into the box and tape or glue. The process will still be like wrapping a gift box. You fold two sides up; trim then if you wish; for the Tuck in; and each end will then fold in similar to hopspital bed sheet corners.

Do the same for the lids.

You'll need to first measure the box you're going to cover. Then add 2 inches to the length and the width, and cut the paper for the lid to those dimensions.

On two of the sides of the paper (on opposite ends of the sheet), cut a 1-inch slit 1 inch from the edge of the paper. These will form the flaps that you will use to fold over and tape to the sides of the lid.

Fold all four sides up 1 inch from the edge to form the lid. You'll notice that two of the sides have the extra 1-inch flaps that can wrap around the other two sides. Tape those to the sides without the flaps and you will have formed a paper lid that will slip over the top of the boxes and hang down 1 inch.
