That might be tough to do, and foolhardy. If you don't get them all, you're risking the structural integrity of your house. Do you really want that?
In my view, it would be better to pay a professional to survey the infestation, and spray to control that. They are (hopefully) specialists at this. You obviously should do some sort of reference checking, but you'll have the peace of mind of knowing that it was done right. Otherwise, every creak you hear at night will have you wondering if that was a weakening floor joist.

If you have termites, all of the advice you are getting is good. They are not something to play around with. You are risking the structural integrity of your home by not having a professional survey your house and propose a guaranteed treatment plan.

My grandpa swore that using kerosine (he put it in a squirt bottle) around the outside of the house was a deterrant.

It won't treat them, but i've heard that there are some pepper plants that you can put around your house that will acts as a deterrent.

there is no way they live under ground they do not live in the wood they just feed on it call an exterminator
