I am not loving the new era of music. In fact, im hating it. I love classic rock and i like a few bands in the 00s but other than that it all sucks. The who, ac/dc and guns n' roses are my favorite bands but they never get mentioned anywhere. I like foo fighters also but thats about the only band from the 00s that i like besides the chili peppers but as I said What has happened to music?

I agree with Rick W and Jakex that it would be wrong to expect new bands to emulate what's gone before(and the bands you've mentioned are great- only "Appetite for Destruction" with Guns 'n' Roses for me, though), but unfortunately rock music works in a cyclical nature. For example, the English rock scene is currently dominated by bands trying to re-capture the sound and attitude of bands from the post-punk/new wave era in the late seventies(think Television, Talking Heads, and Iggy Pop's solo stuff etc). I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but unfortunately the narrow-mindedness of record company executives means that what actually gets released tends to be an inferior, watered down version of what went before. Let's face it, in 5 or 10 years time, you'll probably be cringing at the efforts of some young band's crappy version of what Guns 'n' Roses were doing. It's a generational thing...
Edit: 13 years old? you've certainly provoked a debate here...better than I could have managed 20 years ago...

It's the kids nowadays. These bands now are indicative of the younger generation. Make up wearing, tight clothes sporting, over emotional, nappy headed bands with female like band members are big now because that's they way the kids are now. I am more of a metal fan and this disease has made it's way into that genre as well. I miss the days of Slayer, Pantera, and the drunk, gun carrying rock bands of the early 90's when I was growing up. We are stuck between two decades of bad music, the 80's and so far the 00's.

i agree with you partially on this, i love all types of rock from classic to heavy metal, whoever said Shinedown is right Shinedown is one of the most amazing bands out there right now same with Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, and a ton of others, and not get mentioned? those bands are f*ckin epic these days AC/DC and Guns and the Who and Zeppelin are gods of Rock and Roll they are the creators of rock the inspiration for todays rock, I do agree with you about the new bands not living up to the "gods" albums like Appetite for Destruction, Back in Black, Led Zeppelin IV, etc. are all amazing albums find one bad song on Back in Black find one solo from Guns that's not frieking amazing find one Neil Pert drum solo that doesn't blow your mind, todays music doesn't give you the same rush as Rush, Floyd, Zeppelin, Guns, AC/DC, or the who but it still is pretty great...By the way you do kinda sound like a 50 year old fart with a grandson that listens to f*ckin 50 cent which I would agree with you 100%..I hate rap

music has evolved just like society and medicine does........there's more technology put into place so the simplistic drumming in every ac/dc song would sound stupid and not current (well there is the white stripes hmmmmmmm.....)

plus rock has gone through so many changes and will continue too........there's been many changes read some more on the internet and seek out new bands

**** all bands have a shelf life eventually ****

(unless your the stones I guess, they are just immortal zombies that continue to tour)

Look for new artists to listen to. Trust me, the Internet is an amazing tool. Use it.
I realize you're fed up with the music scene right now, and so I was a few years ago. Then I just started looking for new stuff, and now I realize there are some very good and diverse artists out there right now. And none of them are played on the radio.
Need help finding stuff? I'd be happy to help.

Your life happened.
The songs you like remind you of certain times in your life. Your friends, high-school, college, girlfriends, etc. That's why YOU like this music. It reminds you of the good times.

I'm sure there are a million kids who love Beyonce or P!ATD now, and won't relate to the songs of the year 2015 because they won't connect the music with anything.

I love the early 90's. College, Nirvana, playing in bar bands, Alice in Chains, They Might Be Giants, Great times... for ME. I don't expect anyone to love the stuff I do, because their experiences are not necessarily the same as mine.

By the same token, I don't rip any of the modern music just because I don't relate... I know it means a lot to the people who are digging it.

Shouldn't you be glad that we now have such variation in our music industry? You just have to find the right places. Heaps of bands are influenced by your favourite bands, but progress in their own way to produce new and sometimes better music.

If we all listened to AC/DC etc. you'd ***** about that, as well.

Lets just say the taste of the mainstream audience took a turn for the worse

But there are really good bands out there, they're all just underground. Try:
Porcupine Tree
Blackfield
Dream theater
Opeth
The Shins
Supergrass
