I live in Los Angeles, CA. I crashed my car the other day. I spun out because of a wet spot in the turn. After the officers realized that they couldn't get me on anything else they gave me a ticket for driving on the wrong side of the road!! I was spinning out of control, I didn't purposly drive there! Correct me if I'm wrong but this surely seems like a bogus ticket. How can I fight it?

update-- I was not intoxicated and I was going the speed limit. That is why this is the only ticket I got. The wet road was the cause of the crash. The corner is dangerous. A guy in a truck slid out, just like me, and almost hit the police officer who was questioning me. They gave him a ticket too. This turn is known for accidents according to the police.

If you spun out because of a wet spot in the road, you were going too fast for conditions. Suck it up, be a man about this, admit your guilt, and take responsibility for your actions.

And learn how to drive sanely.

It sounds like you would need to show that the wet spot was an anomaly, and that even at the speed limit, it would have caused a crash.

However, since speed limits on many roads and the lower speed warnings on curves are set for the worst conditions, it might be a little difficult to fight. Now if there was some oil in that wet spot, and you got a sample of it along with good photos, etc., you might have a decent chance of winning.

Doesn't sound all that bogus, to have spun out on a wet patch, you must have been going entirely too fast for a turn. Sounds like you were reckless & lucky to not be in the hospital or gotten worse fines than that.

"Bogus"?? Hardly!! They police determined that your car was on the wrong side of the road; case closed. Don't even think of fighting it as you'll only lose and incur additional expenses (attorney's fees, investigator's fees, etc.). Good luck!

Sounds like failure to control. If you know it's wet, you should slow down.
