I saw some really young trick treaters accompanied by parents which I thought was good. The door knocked once but we pretended we weren't in case it was teenagers trick or treating. A few years ago we had problems with some trick or treaters. Some teenagers knocked at the door with balaclavas over their heads and looked like thugs. When me and my brother said they didn't look convincing and told them we didn't have any sweets they rolled a bin down our drive. We has a little kid who wasn't dressed up at all knock and we gave him a sweet and he through it out door window. I don't mind the little kids accompanied by their parents trick or treating or some teenagers who have made an effort to dress up but respect the people they are trick or treating but some abusive teenagers doing it and using it as an excuse to vandalise someones property is so wrong and it ruins it for others.
Ok that's my rant done. lol

Been talking about this tonight. I was never allowed to trick or treat because my dad said it was begging and scary for the elderly (the kids round our way are 15 or 16 and dress with bin bags over their heads! Im in Leicester BTW)
Wasnt so bad though, we used to have a kids Halloween party every year to keep kids safe and off the streets. Dressing up, Loads of sweets and games and a BBQ and punch for the adults. Fab! when I have kids Im going to do the same.

Since we moved into our new house we don't get trick or treaters because we live in a private mews with security gates which is a bit pants. Plus our neighbours aren't really child friendly. I miss living on the estate, we had kids coming non-stop, it was good fun!

I've never seen so many maybe something to do with the local sweet shop where we bought the sweets from!
Its nice to see the kids full of fun watched over by responsible adults discreetly in the background.
Maybe it isn't so Christian as when my sister and I serenaded locals with Christmas Carols on our recorders - we really could play them - in times when it was safer but let the kids have fun and get rewards.

Yes I had lots of trick or treaters, and I knew most of them! I had lots of sweets and goodies ready for them! I still have lots left over though!
