There are two actually.
One is called Scarlet. It was written about 10-12 years ago and it was not very good.
On November 4th the second one, Rhett Butler's People, will be released. It is not really a sequel more of a retelling from Rhett's point of view.
Sorry don't know either author.

SCARLETT also has a made for TV adaptation.

The writer Pat Conroy also wrote a sequel but it was never published due to disagreements with the Mitchell family. It's first line was "In Atlanta among genteel society I am known only for who my wife was" and it's the autobio of Rhett.

A few years ago the novel THE WIND DONE GONE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wind_Done_Gone caused a major stir and caused lawsuits. It's a sort of reimagining as well as sequel in which the main character is Scarlett O'Hara's biracial half-sister (daughter of Mammy and Scarlett's father, Gerald) even though not once do they use the name Scarlett or O'Hara (she refers to her sister as "Other" throughout).

GWTW was also a stage musical in London in the 1970s. It got mixed reviews and has never been revived, but it was a hit.

Yes. "Scarlett" by Alexandra Ripley. It is very different from Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With the Wind."
