The answer is, not many. You don't give any reason for thinking that it will. Why do you think so?

Apart from the poles reversing, major cataclismic natural disaster events and a rapidly-increasing stream of consciousness that will floor us all, I think you have nothing to worry about. Maybe that's why the church hasn't told us about it yet. Sit back and enjoy the ride!
Oh, but first you might want to store a couple of years of dry foods and water, like Mormons do. Maybe that's why they choose to do that? Also prepare your soul for what's to come.
Interestingly enough, look what the scripture reading of the day is at the Greek Orthodox Diocese of America for 12/22/2012.

The access that the internet gives people is both a blessing and a curse. While you now have a global library available 24-7, you are also exposed to crackpots whose pre-internet communication would have been limited to passing out leaflets on urban street corners.
Ignore the prophets of doom. Over the years, you will see a steady stream of bogus dire predictions.

This superstitious nonsense exemplifies the need for better science education in schools. If people actually gave some thought to these harebrained ideas with the benefit of a scientific education, they would see them for the bunk that they are.
The Earth has been in existence for an unimaginably long period of time - some 4.4 billion years approximately. Humanity has been around for an infinitesimally small fraction of that time. The planet is likely to be capable of sustaining life for at least another billion years.
Stop listening to the psychobabble and trash tv and start educating yourselves to the only knowledge that matters- science.

Too many. 2012 will come and go, and nothing will have changed, and soon people will have chosen a new date for the apocalypse. Then that date will come and go, and so on. People are mostly idiots. If you pay close attention as you grow older, you will notice this. Try not to be one of them.

Not me. In 2013 all the people who said the world would end in 2012 will be to embarrassed to admit they ever said that.

2012 is just an astronomical event, where our solar system passes through the galactic plane.
like the eclipse of the moon, but much bigger.
things will likely be fine from that.
but the earth is always changing with earthquakes and floods and all kinds of bad weather.
just prepare a little bit, and you should be fine.
