This could be normal, but going to see a doctor is what should be done! Don't risk anything being wrong by waiting. Schedual an appointment and get a home test while waiting for the appointment ( if she has not already). I had a lot of pain during my first one. It was my body getting use to the huge change.

if its already been 4 weeks since her period was due id suggest taking a test.i would recommend "First Response" or "EPT". and if she does take it make sure she takes it first thing in the morning when she wakes up. the test will be more accurate on predicting the hCG hormone. and yes those are possible symptoms that is why i was in denial becuz i felt like i was about to start my period and nothing came. but i was hard headed thinking i was just cramping then my boyfriend suggested me take a test just to be on the safe side and well......5 months pregnant with a baby girl as we speak!! but i found out when i had just turned 6 weeks. good luck to your friend.

4 weeks is when your period is due. Early pregnancy symptoms are similar to period symptoms.
