In the day-to-day of my own life, I do. I've had an attorney for a few things (home buying, insurance dispute, contractor malfeasance) that I suppose could be called protection. The Border patrol, although they're vastly understaffed and undersupported. Police, Coast Guard, National Guard, Active Military, I'm grateful to all of you for making my country safe enough that I can live my life the way I do. And while I personally dislike most politicians, I suppose even they protect me, by funding all of the abovementioned people. Mind you, they do an unholy amount of damage while they're at it, but at least they do some good.
On a spiritual level, I don't believe in anything supernatural, but my son and my wife and our incoming son are talismans that protect me against dark thoughts.

Well...although I like to say that my brother is mean to me, when he went to college and stayed there I always felt alone at night. But now that he is going to college somewhere closer I feel like if anything happens during the night he'll be there for me.
