Alright...I'm 14 years old, and ever since I started High School, questions like these have been plagueing my mind, I just don't know if I should beleive in him or not beleive in him, Science tends to be pointing that this universe has an ultimate fate...to be pretty much swallowed up by the sun. I really don't understand anymore...Ya see...I was born in a devout Seventh-day Adventist family, always viewing that my god was real...until I learned more about the science of the Earth, and ever since then, my mind has been a swirling vortex filled with questions, and not being able to answer them for myself makes me EXTREMELY frustrated, angry, and depressed.
If God is not real, then what truely is the human purpose? Are we simply just meant to procreate and evolve, it makes us seem as though we are but insignificant creatures in this thing we call "life". Death, what would that feel like? As I'm writing this, I'm becoming even more frustrated, I need help, what is truely wrong with me?

There is no proof found that God actually exists. That's why it's called belief. Some kids believe in monsters, but there is no proof of them. It's just something you have to find out for yourself. To me, the religious books are books that people wrote. There are a lot of believers in God, which could be a reason why there are so many books that talk about God. A lot of people believe in ghosts and I can find a lot of books on those too. Nobody knows the answer.
There is nothing wrong with you to question this. You just have to seek out the answer. Do some research of your own. I took a world religions class and it was one of the best things for me. It made me understand a lot of other religions. Maybe that would help you. Good luck!

Searching for a prove for god existence is like trying to prove the wind is real. You can't see wind, but its effect is there. The effect that make you believe there is such thing as wind. You can't see god (obviously) but look around you. Think to yourself how these things are made? Science does not create these things, they merely explain it. It means that there are something that create it. I'll try to explain this to you using this statement: Cell are the basic unit of life. Which is true and also wrong. Cell IS the basic unit of life, but within the cells, there are other smaller particles which we called atom. If you look at the discovery of atom by John Dalton and the further studies by other scientist, they are trying to break up the atom into its essence that makes an atom. Probably you know the story, first come atom, then there are nuclease and electrons, next discovery of protons and neutrons. What else they may find in protons and neutrons, we never know (atleast for now!). But if you think about it, there will always something greater that holding these pieces together that make these component an atom. It is beyond that electrical attraction. There is such order in the atom that there must be a power who controls it, don't you think?

Wow you are 14? very intelligent. I had the same crisis around your age... I am now agnostic. I believe in not knowing. We can't possibly know... and for some of us eg. me. faith is not enough. Especially when so many religions use their faith to alienate others. Do some research find something that you can connect with. I did that it helped a ton. Research Budhism, Agnosticism, Secular Humanism, existentialism. Wikipedia will have something on all of these.

Now you may ask... How can I just go on not knowing? Thinking that maybe this earth is just filled with chaos? Maybe death is nothing... just think of that... Nothingness. Well nothing is something I definitely don't believe in. There always was and always will be something... You have to find your own answers... and it is arrogant to believe that we insignificant humans have all the answers. We definitely don't. All we can do is ponder and there is somehting interesting and encouraging about that.

There is nothing wrong with you!! I think you are better off than a lot of people. You actually think and question... that is amazing! Keep on thinking and questioning. Even when you do believe it is good to have questions, rather than to be a blind believer.

god is just a name to describe the spark of all creation. It has been called many things by many peoples, and has existed in human thought ever since they knew there was something so much more than ourselves. (So nothing is wrong with you) This thinking is the birth of all philosophy. So yes, "god" exists. But whatever you want to call it, you should not use the knowledge to make others follow you, that is not what life is about...conversion has no place in the human being. I am wiccan but i do not give the spark a gender. it exists, it is here in everything, every living being, every living creature. Energy is all around us, and the more we try to define, classify, testify, and poke and prod, the more it will remain elusive. When the time is right it will find you and it will tell you.
As for death...everything is born and everything is thus doomed to perish. But we need not live in fear...for we are not living but we are dieing. Live your life while you have it. To fear something that is unknown or not understood is just ignorance fused with arrogance. We each will find out in the end. And short noted version, our purpose as human beings is to LIVE and LET LIVE. Our purpose to find happiness, that is all and nothing more.

There is absolutely no way of knowing the true about God. It takes a leap of faith that many don't have. People who worry to much about religion never really get a chance to live life because the are thinking about death. There's no need to stress over something you can't prove or disprove.

The question for me is whether I was created or just an accident of nature.

If I am just an accident, then life has no purpose. The word, "meant" implies a purpose and so, without God, we weren't meant for anything including procreating and evolving. Natural processes such as evolution are mindless and cannot give us a purpose. Nor does evolution care whether you procreate or evolve or live or die.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (a noted 20th century mathematician, philosopher, Nobel Laureate and atheist)

Without God, all we can do is to invent some activities that will make us feel good about ourselves, focus on happy thoughts, and keep us too busy to think about a meaningless existence.

To believe in something means to "hold as true". We believe when we need to in order to reach a goal. I don't know if my Creator exists or not and there is no proof either way. As long as God has not been proven false, my belief that my Creator exists is a rational belief.

I find inside of me a desire to know the One who created me even though I don't know for sure if He even exists. So I "hold as true" that He does exist and then seek Him. Others "hold as true" that He does not exist because they don't want Him to be an authority over them.

At your age you are beginning to seek your independence from your parents. At the same time you're wondering whether you really want a God who watches you and judges your actions.

First, like any question, you must be clear what your terms mean. For instance, what do you mean by "God"? What does it mean to exists? What does it mean to know? etc.

Then, you must use the tools you have (or find those that are appropriate) to bring to the question. Learn what logical fallacies are, so that you can avoid them in both your questions and the answers you receive. Look at the arguments for and against a deity. Look at any evidence or lack thereof.

The other questions have no meaning until you have a clear answer to the first. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about the method I'm suggesting, or even any answers I or others have developed.

Well if the umiverse was created by a big bang, then how did that big bang start? Some energy had to create the big bang from somewhere. That energy came from a god. Often many cultures in the past believed in gods do to their lack of understanding. A god for the sun, A god for the moon, etc. But we know there is no god of a sun or moon, but we don't know how the universe exists so we believe a God created it. And I doubt we will ever know, as the years progress the proof fades away. But in the end it boils down to faith that there is something out there that made us and gave us life, God.

You're just adjusting to having your world turned inside out, that's all. It's normal. If you were raised to believe in one thing and then find out that it's not necessarily true, it takes some time to readjust.

It's not clear what human purpose is all about. But keep reading and searching. I've found the writings of Joseph Campbell and Jung to be interesting explanations of religion. You might find the website I posted below to be of interest, too.
