I was recently engaged by someone that thought they would enlighten me with their thoughts on something I was doing. I said well, I really like it this way, which of course did not suit them at all. Eventually I politely told them after further exchange that my way was the way I was going to do it and if they didn't like it they didn't have to look at it but they were certainly entitled to their opinion.
They then said that it wasn't an opinion, if I asked anybody in the world, they would tell me the same thing, that I was doing this "wrong". Getting a bit outdone I said if nobody in the world likes it, nobody has to look at it, it's mine and I am doing it the way I want it done. I mean for crying out loud, this was NOT a matter of life or death!
Is it me or is the line between fact and opinion that fine?

Way to be guy,
the other person seems to have forgotten the old addages of there being more than one way to skin a cat, and to each their own.
If you're happy, and didn't ask for that persons opinion, then I say phoo on 'em.

I'm pretty sure if you were to disclose the specific nature of the event rather than being so strangely vague and elusive, I would be able to more specifically respond to your strange rant. But instead, I would have to say that my answer would be entirely dependant upon what it was you were doing. Chewing gum? Picking your nose? Peeing in public? Come on, give us a clue, give us a clue!
This reminds me of elementary school when kids would say to each other "THAT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!!"
In response to your actual question question, I would have to say yes. I do hate it when I encounter those unfortunates who can't distinguish fact from opinon. I also hate it when I encounter someone who is really really vague yet wants a specific answer. Hee hee. Good luck, happy halloween.

It shouldn't be but with hit and run TV journalism they hear part of a statement, or story and assume the know it all. It gets tiring as they would go to their graves claiming they knew it all.

I relate to whatcha' sayin'...
I have a friend that does that...
He tries to "project" his own opinions and emotions and "pseudo-facts" on to me...
And tries to "talk me out" of things that are completely based on my own life experience...as if he could say...
"You're interpreting your own life all wrong...let me tell you what YOUR life means..."
Yeah, right...The guy is one step away from being a "Forrest Gump" mental case, and he's telling me what I think, feel, and know...and disagrees with every thing I say in a "default" mindless way...I'd say something like..."I'm gonna go get a beer..."
And he'll say...
"No no no no no no no....you're not going to get a beer...that's not what I was anticipating..."
"Yes, I am..."
"No...you're...not...!"
W.T.F.?!?
Get a friggin' clue, people...(people like that are living in their "Own Private Idaho...")
Sheesh!

Some people just need to be right all of the time. My grandfather used to be like that. There was NO arguing with him!
