Alfie Martin - I copied this from the CTA website:

Reduced fare passes for grade school and high school students require a Student Riding Permit and can be used ONLY on weekdays between 5:30 am and 8:00 pm when school is in session.

Reduced Fare Permits

CTA offers a range of reduced fares for use by:

* Children ages 7-11.
* Grade school and high school students with CTA Student Riding Permit.
* Seniors and riders with disabilities with RTA Reduced Fare Permit. All Medicare cardholders are eligible to apply for the RTA Reduced Fare Program.

Getting Reduced Fare Permits

* Grade and High School Students 12 and over
o Purchase the Student Reduced Fare Permit through school or call 312-932-2923 for an application.
Regular school year - $5
Summer session - $2
o Student Reduced Fare Permits are valid weekdays between 5:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. when school is in session. Contact 1-888-YOUR-CTA for more information.
* Seniors and customers with disabilities
o Call 312-913-3110 to apply for the RTA Reduced Fare Permit. All Medicare cardholders are eligible to apply for the RTA Reduced Fare Permit.
o Reduced Fare Permit allows the permit holder and an attendant to each ride at the reduced fare.
o Reduced Fare Permit entitles the holder to travel at reduced fares on Pace and Metra.

Value can be added to Reduced Fare Permits at vending machines located at CTA rail stations. Vending machines accept one, two, five, ten, and twenty-dollar bills, and all coins except pennies and half dollars. Maximum value on card can not exceed $100.

* Most Reduced Fare Permits are for the use of one person only.
* A Reduced Fare Permit allows one reduced fare for the Permit holder and one reduced fare for an attendant accompanying the Permit holder to be paid using the Permit with transfer eligibility maintained for both individuals.

32-37 is what I remember as that was the number of desks the rooms could hold. We did have order, but back then students were much more respectful of their elders and teachers so control wasn't an issue as it is today. If we did disrupt the classroom, a visit to the principals office was in order, and a call made to home. I feared answering to my father more than the principal. We learned because it was expected of us to pay attention and learn. We were not given the option. I think my teachers did a remarkable job and I wish I could thank each and every one. my high school had 10th thru 12th grades and we had over 3,000 students My graduating class was 854.
