The moon is visible during at least part of the day on most days. It's only around the time of full moon that it can't be seen either in the morning or afternoon.
It orbits the Earth every four weeks, so for much of that time it's either on the daylight side of Earth, or not completely "behind" us, meaning it can be seen during the early or later part of daylight hours.

Yes, I saw it while I was walking to Quiznos to get lunch. The Moon is frequently up and visible during the day. If you never noticed that before then you just haven't been paying enough attention to the Moon or the sky in general.

The moon reflects light from the sun. Since the moon is in orbit around the Earth, it goes through phases. When it is in the quarter phases, it is easily seen during the daytime.

Visible moon during daytime not at all unusual. The moon orbits Earth, so occasionally that orbit makes it visible during the day.
