When you get the card, open the iTunes Store. On the main page to the right of the screen, there is a list - click on "Redeem". From there, all you have to do is (carefully) type in the code that will be on the back of the card.

It will put however much you paid for the card into your account immediately, after you type the code in just start buying songs or whatever!

Good luck, hope I helped! :]

Downloading iTunes is free. You don't need a credit card to have an account. You can buy gift cards at grocery stores and no, there's no tax on them.
