The hospital staff won't induce without your doctors orders, so you'd really be wasting your time by just showing up hoping ot get induced. Better to call your doctor and ask-better yet, just wait-it will happen :)

I don't know of ANY hospitals that do walk-in inductions especially just based on your word. That's insaine. Just because it's your due date doesn't mean your baby is ready to be born (trust me I've had ALOT of overdue babies) Your due date is just an estimate. It really is more of a due month than a date. You could go even to 43wks without needing an intervention. That doesn't mean you don't feel like crap and are in alot of pain and want it over, but it's just not going to come this way. The best way to insure that your labor starts is to calm down and stop thinking about it. You can talk about your concerns and desire for induction at your next OB appointment.

They will not do that just because you want to have it on your due date. Don't you think that you are being a little selfish about this. The only way they will induce you is if your Doctor has given the order and or if the baby is in trouble.

If you showed up at the hospital, they'd call your doctor and ask. Most doctors will not induce simply because you're due. People seem to forget that inductions are medically invasive procedures that always bring extra risks to the labor. Always. If there is no medical necessity to impose extra risks, they err on the side of caution and won't do it.
Try to be patient, it's what's best for both you and your baby.
Good luck, and congrats, baby will be here before you know it!

You have to call your doctor, an ultrasound would have to be done to be sure the baby's lungs and other organs were fully developed. Even if your baby is fully developed in every way, baby's grow stronger each day they remain in utero. Most doctors will not induce labor unless the baby is fully developed and/or the baby is getting too large. I went a couple days past my due date so they gave me an ultrasound with my oldest daughter and estimated her weight to be about 8 lbs 4 oz. So they induced me (which ended in an emergency c-section anyway). She weighed 8 lbs 2.3 oz at birth.

Nope. They won't even call your doctor - they will tell you to go home and YOU call your doctor.
Doctors and midwives schedule inductions - and they have rules to follow too [ different in every hospital ].
