IS it not that big a problem in his eyes?

Bush is openly pro-illegal. The obvious motivation is that he wants cheap labor for the business interests who paid his campaign's way to the White House (but, then, those same interests contribute to /every/ candidate). He also seems to be intent on having close relations with Mexico, and Mexico is understandibly pro-illegal, since remittances from Mexicans working in America makes up the second largest line-item contributing to thier economy (after oil revenue).

This is among the issues that I vehemently disagree with Bush on. He has done less to curb illegals than Clinton did.

Because GW is a true conservative, an aristocrat wantabe who looks upon the less wealthy as subjects of the wealthy. Like all true conservatives, he wants to eliminate worker rights and place all power in our country into the hands of the very rich, and establish an aristocracy like that which exists in most of Latin America. By flooding the U.S. labor market with immigrants, especially illegal immigrants, the super rich are able to erode our rights, and pit the working class against each other.

Bush's buddies down in Texas need those Mexican immigrants! Without their cheap labor, they'd have to hire Americans and therefore wouldn't turn a profit.

So to answer your question, Bush is looking out for his friends interests down in Texas.

He initially wanted an amnesty program but it wouldn't fly with us cons. He hasn't done much to address the issue since. This is easily the biggest mistake he's made.

Very few politicians want to even touch that subject. I can't understand that attitude when the majority of Americans are very concerned about it.

Wrong. Democrats have been blocking President Bush's deportations in California. He had agencies go through streets arresting large numbers of illegal immigrants last year.

Also, the ACLU and unions sued to block the DHS from sending letters to employers of illegal aliens. The letters stated the employers are hiring people that are committing Social Security ID theft. Basically, the illegal immigrants are using someone else's Social Security numbers. Around 9 million illegal aliens are using social security numbers. And Pelsoi "accused immigration officers of conducting "terrorizing raids" on Wal-Mart stores that led to the arrest of more than 300 illegal aliens."
