Well, It wouldn't be a novel but a collection of short, amusing and at times, sorry stories, called, " Things I heard while taking the public transit" I have no car right now, and man, the stories you hear, then you get the ones on their cell phones, uncaringly sharing their lives, Wow,

Yeah, as many people kind of already pointed out to you, you can't title a book before you write it. Especially because even when you know what you're writing about, your story can take turns and become something else entirely; it could be so different that it needs a different title. Besides, I think that when you title something when you first start writing it or before you start writing it, it feels like an unnecessary guideline. A very constricting sort of path. I guess. I don't know. Nobody's going to have a real answer for you. Sorry.

Ignore what they say. You can title a book before you name it. in fact, it helps me keep direction on where the book is going. Here's some names for novels I'd like to write someday.

Through a Glass Starkly
My Sane Asylum
Falling Awake
Random Artichokes

i would make the title something rather loosely connected to the title. like, if the story had an ending that showed 2 lovers reunited in the rain, u could name the story something like "Rain" or "Reunition in the Rain". or, u can choose a title that actually names something in the story. an example would be like, if in a story, a child finds a letter that changes her life, u could name it "the letter". or u could use a name, like a main character's name or a name of an object that influences the story.

I beg to differ (as always). If you know what the book's gonna be about, of course you can know the title. I've started a book called Organised Chaos and it's about my mentally handicapped son. However, I'm still on page one and need a bit of inspiration ...

I wrote one when I was a teenager, which, as the main characters were an American and a Brit, I called "U.S.-U.K." until someone pointed out it sounded like an insult.

It became "The Youth, The Quest, and The Maiden." and was never accepted.

Re-reading it years later I wasn't surprised.

I like books with strange titles, something that only gives a clue of the main story on the book... but if it was about my life... it would be: "Design is Life"

You don't write the title of a novel PRIOR to writing the novel, thus this question is moot.
