The scientific explanation is that it is all in the minds of those using the ouija boards. I have read of tests where the people were blindfolded and having the boards turned at random angles and all of a sudden they could not get any results from the board.

The people could only get answers if they knew where the letters were. If their hands were guided by something then the people did not need to know where they letters were. However, once they did not know where the letters were, they were not able to do anything.

Other tests asked the people to get an answer that they personally had no idea of what it could be. In one room, something was setup. The people were asked to describe the setup in the room. It was wild guesses. In a prior experiment, the people were allowed to know what was in the room (or were allowed to "accidentally" know) and they could describe what was in the room. However, once their actual knowledge of what was in the room was cut off, then so were the "transmissions" from the ouija boards.

If anyone thinks that they can make a ouija board work then they should contact one of the many skeptic organizations around the world. Almost all of them have set aside cash prizes for people who can demonstrate the paranormal is real.

There is no scientific explanation for the boards.Just why some people think they work.I think they can be a lot of fun. When people want to scare the bejeebers out of each other.Ouija's work well. That and Bloody Mary or a demon summoning, great Halloween fun.If there's someone there who believes that stuff. All the better.

Interesting... I wonder this myself because the triangle thing really does fly on that thing - and I swear no one was pushing it The weirdest part was I did Ouija over 10 years ago and the things it said that it actually came true. I am not a believer in things-supernatural in general, but this still freaks me out to this day.

There are two possibilities.

One of the people is controlling it, to mess with everyone else.

Or

The tiny random movements of everybodies fingers, which all people have all the time but we don't usually notice, add up and cause the platen to move randomly. People then interpret the random pointings because that's what people do, find patterns and meaning.

It's called the ideomotor effect. You're moving the planchette, even if you don't realize it. You can easily test this by blindfolding someone and seeing if they can still get a message, or rotating the board while blindfolded.

It's all you.

Then how come it went from A to H over and over and we didn't understand what it was doing...why it was going from A to H...till we finally realized it was really going from H to A ...and was laughing at us????? I know you'll say one of us knew...but we didn't. We were both surprised. But I know you won't believe that.
EDIT ..RoffWoffl..yes..people are doing it..people who died & are now spirits.

People control them by placing their hands on the side, it causes it to move in the way our subconscious decides.
